We Have Arrived

We arrived in North Pole early this afternoon.

Our house isn't ready so it looks like at least three days in the hotel. The renters left some damage and so the landlord is having repair work completed and then they will ber painting, cleaning, and cleaning the carpets.  All in all, it isn't a bad place and once we get our things in and decorate it will be home. I always said I thought it would be fun to be in the military and live in the country.  Well, this is definetly military terriority and our house is on a gravel road surrounded by trees and outside the city limits.  Be careful what you wish for.  LOL..

Once we are settled we will have to get a dining table and washer and dryer and possibly a love seat or small couch.

Found the Assembly of God church today, so guess we will attend there on Sunday and see what it is like.

North Pole is a small community, but it does have a McDonalds, Wendy's, Pizza Hut, Subway, and Taco Bell.  Oh, and a Safeway and a hardware store.  There is also a BIG cleaners, hope they are as good to us as Clinton Laundry.

Our drive this morning wasn't as pretty as our prior days.  We did see a mama moose and her baby.  In fact the baby was running towards the edge of the highway and about the time we got to where it was, it turned around and followed mama.  PTL.....We also saw the Alaskan pipeline.  Didn't get any pictures of either, guess I was too busy thinking about what to expect once we arrived in North Pole.

Since we will be in a hotel for the next few days, guess we will find a much needed laundry mat tomorrow then it is off the explore Fairbanks and the North Pole.  We have eaten at Boston Pizza three times on this trip.  Found the Walmart in Fairbanks today.  However, we saw Fred Meyer and checked it out.  That may be my new place to shop. We also need to do all those fun things like, new driver license, car tags, find a bank, find Doc health insurance, get renters insurance and whatever comes our way.

OH....Doc said this is the cracked windshield capital of the world....well guess who got hit by a rock today....yes the Nissan has a chip in the windshield. It already needs an oil change and it needs a bath inside and out....My car has never been this dirty before.

Here is a little scary thing, when we arrived at the house today, I noticed on the trailer that held the FJ, that one of the ties holding the FJ on the trailer was no longer attached.  Thank you Jesus for keeping it on the trailer.  Doc said it was almost off when we left this morning.

When we left Clinton, we had to let air out of the front tires on the FJ to get it on the trailer and since getting here and unloading it we have been unable to find a station with air.  Rachel and I noticed a station that said air but there wasn't a hose.  The guy cleaning at the house said that's because people steal the hose.  He said to go in and ask for the hose.  Guess we will try that tomorrow. Pray that no damage is done to the tires driving it to the station, which is about 2 miles from our house.

Charlie is so ready to be in a real house, stop riding in a car, and not be left in the car.  LOL.. He loves his morning walks with his nana.  I think he will miss her when she leaves..

Well that's about all the news for today. Keep checking in, who knows what each day will bring for me to report.

Be blessed.....

Sally & Richard
